8 Main Components of 4 Roll Rolling Machine

4 roll bending machine
The plate bending machine is a general equipment for bending metal sheets into cylindrical, arc, or other shaped workpieces. Any steel formed into a cylindrical shape is almost rolled by a rolling machine. This rolling machine equipment is widely used in boiler, shipbuilding, petroleum, woodworking, metal structure, and other machinery manufacturing industries.

The structure of the CNC four-roller plate rolling machine is a four-roller type. The upper roller is the main drive, and the output gear of the reducer meshes with the upper gear to provide torque for the rolled plate; the lower roller moves vertically and passes through the hydraulic cylinder. Hydraulic oil is obtained by acting on the piston to clamp the plate, which is hydraulic transmission; there are side rollers on both sides of the lower roller and tilting motion along the rack guide rail, driven by the screw nut and worm gear; the advantage of this machine is that the plate end Partial pre-bending and rolling can be carried out on the same equipment.

The specific structure of the CNC four-roll plate rolling machine is explained as follows:

Upper roll device

The upper roller device is mainly composed of the main oil cylinder, upper roller bearing seat, upper roller, double row self-aligning bearing, etc. The upper roll is an important part of the plate rolling machine. The journals at both ends of the upper roll adopt extra-wide double-row self-aligning roller series rolling bearings. Due to the use of self-aligning roller bearings, it is conducive to the inclination of the main roll and the convenience of rolling cones. The two main oil cylinders provide the pressure required for rolling the sheet (working pressure is 16MPa, rated pressure is 28MPa).

Horizontal movement device

The horizontal moving device is powered by the moving motor, and the horizontal movement of the upper roller device is driven by the reducer, the worm gear and the worm, and the screw nut mechanism, so as to realize the asymmetric rolling of the plate.

Lower roller device

The lower roller device is composed of a lower roller, lower roller bearing seat, input gear, sliding bearing, etc. The lower roller is an important part of the plate rolling machine, which is suitable for low-speed and heavy-load places under normal temperature conditions.

Idler device

The idler device is composed of the idler, wedge mechanism, idler adjustment handwheel, etc. There is a set of idler rollers, which can be adjusted up and down according to the load of the rolled sheet specifications.

Main drive

It is composed of the main motor, electro-hydraulic push rod brake, cylindrical gear reducer and output gear.

Tipping device

The tipping device consists of a ram, tipping cylinder, etc. Installed on the side of the overturned rack, used for the overturning and recovery of the overturned rack. The overturning of the overturning device is convenient for the product to be taken out along the axial direction of the roller.

Hydraulic system

All the movements of the upper roller and the reverse are controlled centrally by a hydraulic station. The whole system consists of the hydraulic pump station, solenoid valve, stack valve, oil cylinder and pipeline. An oil pump motor drives the gear pump through an internal tooth-shaped elastic coupling. The pressure oil from the oil pump first enters the pressure regulating system to set the pressure, and then passes through the channel block and leads to the oil cylinder through the three-position four-way reversing valve. All valves and accessories are connected by a manifold block. In order to ensure the effective operation of the hydraulic system, a protection device is provided.

Electronic control system

The electric control system of the equipment includes an electric control cabinet, operation console, hand-held control box, etc. The main switch of this machine has the functions of short circuit protection and overload protection of the main motor. One main motor drives the lower roller to rotate, one motor drives the upper roller to move horizontally, and one motor drives a set of the hydraulic pump station, with short-circuit overheating protection, the forward and reverse rotation of the motor is controlled by the AC contactor; the control circuit adopts PLC programmable Controller control, few relays, reliable action.

The top 8 components of a 4-roll rolling machine

  • Base Frame: The base frame provides stability and support for the entire machine. It is typically made of heavy-duty steel to withstand the forces generated during the rolling process.
  • Top Roll: Also known as the upper roll or the top working roll, this component is responsible for applying downward pressure on the material being rolled. It is usually hydraulically controlled and can be adjusted to achieve the desired rolling force.
  • Bottom Roll: The bottom roll, also referred to as the lower roll or the bottom working roll, acts as a support for the material being rolled. It is typically fixed in position and provides a counterforce to the pressure applied by the top roll.
  • Side Rolls: The side rolls, also called the lateral or bending rolls, are positioned on both sides of the top and bottom rolls. These rolls assist in controlling the alignment and curvature of the material during the rolling process. They can be adjusted horizontally to accommodate different material widths.
  • Drive System: The drive system consists of motors, gears, and transmission mechanisms that power the rotation of the rolls. It provides the necessary torque to drive the rolling process and ensures synchronized rotation of all the rolls.
  • Hydraulic System: The hydraulic system controls the movement and pressure of the top roll. It enables precise adjustment of the rolling force and facilitates the bending and shaping of the material.
  • Control Panel: The control panel houses the electrical controls and user interface for operating the machine. It allows the operator to set parameters such as roll speed, roll gap, and bending angle, and monitor the rolling process.
  • Safety Features: 4-roll rolling machines are equipped with various safety features such as emergency stop buttons, safety interlocks, and protective covers to ensure operator safety during operation.

These components work together to provide the necessary force and control for shaping and bending metal sheets or plates in a 4-roll rolling machine.
